Near Balderson, fertile fields that formerly grew conventional cash crops have been seeded to grass and nitrogen-capturing clover and alfalfa for our cattle, chickens and laying hens.
In addition to providing healthy meat, these animals return valuable nutrients to the soil. Intensive rotational grazing techniques are used to improve soil and plant health and reduce the need for potentially harmful tillage. Mckenzie Farm strives for sustainability and allows livestock and poultry to be raised without relying on environmentally-unfriendly pesticides and fertilizers.
